Hey Anne Milton,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10789553

You know, you are right, I SHOULD take some personal responsibilty. I mean, it’s totally my fault that I was sexually abused and developed an eating disorder as a result, right? I should really take some personal responsbility for that. Because at 12 years old, it was completely my responsiblity to ensure that someone I was suppose to trust didn’t do those things to me. DAMN, calling me fat instead of obsese is completely going to make me realise this!

Yeah, so I am late to the party, but my rage, let me show you it. This is my main problem with fat shaming. 9/10  are things 100 times worse than being fucking fat shamed people who are overweight have had to deal with. Making sweeping generalisations about why I am so lardy. Why don’t give the public health service some more funding, so they can help the victims of abuse with eating disorders. Not the ones which make you skinny. You know, those legitimate ones you like to pay attention to, not like those ones fatties claim they have because they just like pies and chocolate.

It took ten years of me slowly getting fatter and fatter before I finally got diagnosed with an eating disorder. In my last group for complusive / binge eaters, out of six people, five had been sexually or physically abused in the past by family, friends or partners. Yet the NHS get far less funding for dealing with eating disorders which make you overweight. So many people out there are made to feel they are just greedy, or lazy, or slovenly, when they have a legitimate problem. Because if you starve yourself to death, you have a psychological problem. But if you eat yourself to death, well, tough shit fatty. Stop trying to find ways to shame us into not eating and address the root of the problem.

* BTW, I am not saying everyone who is overweight has a problem they need to deal with, but this is my personal experience.
